We have been in Auckland three whole days now but it seems
like weeks. The glider made the trip OK and is still stashed in its little short pack box.
We have looked at a lot of vans for sale and seen a lot of crap.
A lot of shady car dealer types all trying to sell vans in Auckland
and some travelers trying to sell their vans that look like they have had a very hard life.
We finally found one we liked that we bought off of very nice English couple that had had it for a year or so. It has a few issues that need dealing with but this van “feels” good and has a very basic camper set up in it which is quite functional and can be adapted and improved to fit our needs.
After driving and vacationing in so many VW vans over the years it is going to be fun to try out the Toyota Hiace.

Congrats on getting the van. Thought I’d leave a few days before checking online to see if you had any success that area, so now you’re ready to rock and roll.
I’ll be checking your postings for more adventures and photos.

Looks like my old Get-Away Vanagon!
That’s great you got the van. But I don’t understand why the glider is still short packed. Three whole days and no flying:) You are showing enormous restraint Roger. I’m sure Debbie appreciates that. Very wise of you.

Hey Roger and Debbie – Glad to hear you are set up for the adventure! Good luck with the van and the travels. I’ll be watching for your posts and especially the pictures. Us CSG folks are anxious to hear about the flying!

Nice! I’m glad you guys found what you were looking for. That should make a nice home for next few months.
Seriously Debbie, You bought a HIACe. I knew you would never be able to escape the HIAC now even if it is spelled with an “E” in that part of the world. Your plant is growing great by the way. Enjoy your trip!!

That’s a great looking Van J and I are real excited for you guys. Sounds like your off to a great start. Will be missing you guys at hat creek this winter.
